Originally from Holland, Mich., Two Beers Brewing Founder and Head Brewer Joel VandenBrink spent his younger years tearing down whatever he had just built, just to build it again. Later in life, that fascination of building and creating turned into mix of manufacturing engineering and homebrewing. Add that with a love of the outdoors and it’s no surprise Joel ended up in Seattle.
Two Beers Brewing was born over beers with a friend at Mars Bar in South Lake Union. Now, four years later and long since the days of homebrewing, Joel enjoys the fact that he gets to make a difference in the world with something he helped start. “I get to do what I love. I get to make beer, sell beer, talk about beer, and talk with people about their lives. I get to create something and watch it travel out into the world to be enjoyed.”
Joel currently lives in West Seattle with his dog/brewery mascot, Willis. When not at the brewery, he can be found backpacking through the Northwest – with a dream of hiking the Pacific Crest Trail someday – or snowboarding. Joel also enjoys walking into a new bar and striking up a conversation with his neighbor, whomever they may be.
